Essay #4: New American Dream Manifesto

English —4th Formal Essay —McFarland—Spring—2014

“A New American Dream Manifesto”

For this final major writing assignment, you are being given the opportunity to create your own Manifesto. First off, you will want to find out what a manifesto is, lol. We will be talking about that.

The goal of writing this manifesto is to give you a chance to really take charge of your own thoughts and to consider deeply what and how you think things should be in this country and on this planet.  The manifesto will live on your Web blog, so you will need to include links to research and web sites and photos and videos and graphs, etc, that support what you will be arguing.

This manifesto needs to feature a strong response to the ideas in the Rich and the Rest of US.

What should the manifesto include:
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

In order to support your points, you need to use the ideas found in the Rich and Rest of us  book, your research, and in any other handouts, info, etc. that we have access to. You are also strongly encouraged to access and integrate support from all the other movies, books, etc we used during the semester. Think of this as a chance for you to offer a comprehensive summing up of what you think, and have been thinking all semester.

You must average a minimum of 3 short quotes per page. You should try to include at least 2 quotes per paragraph. Quote length in a paper of this length should be no more than 1-2 lines.     The essay’s page minimum is 7 full pages…(BNDJTM…)

Paragraph topic sentences should start with concepts. Paragraph topic sentences should also feature KEYWORDS, which are taken from the areas of discussion  that you will be coming up with.

The paper is due Saturday May 31 at 5pm. You will be emailing the Manifesto to me as well as the manifesto link to your web site.
