Everything below will be due on Wednesday, July 31st. (some of the work needs to be emailed to me and some needs to be posted to the web, and some needs to do both, lol)

3.  FINAL GARDEN EVAL-- You have 3 questions. Post the answers on your  website. Please do 3 paras for each. For Q1 and Q2 please add in quotes for each para. (you dont need quotes for the 3rd question.) here are the 3 Qs:

4. PALMA CEIA EVAL-- For this assignment, please email to me in a word doc. here is the question: What was it like preparing for and doing the Palma Ceia Fest? Please do 3 paras for this Q.

3 Questions about YOUR plot. --this is due on Monday, July 22.

Hey all,  You recently worked together to create 10-15 questions about YOUR own plot. Now is the time to answer the questions. 

You should each take 3 Questions. (Be sure to pick different questions--dont all do the same). you will need to contact each other to decide on who is doing which question.
For each question, you will do the needed research and then write up the answer. Try to be as specific and detailed as possible.

Then you should post your questions on your Tab. (next week we will talk about combining all your questions on a FAQ tab on your web site. but for now you can post to your tab.)

You can come up with new questions if you arent happy with some of the questions that your group created.

Preparing to create your poster for Palma Ceia Fest

Hi!
You should each have an activity or food that you will be doing at the Palma Ceia Fest.
We now need to create posters for each activity or food so that when people come up to you they know what is happening.
The poster size is 20 inches x 30 inches.
You will be making the poster on MONDAY.
To prepare to make the poster you need to BRING:

1. ---Pictures of your food or activity to go on your poster. You can print these at home or cut out pictures from magazines... 
2. ---4-5  "Did you know" facts about your activity or food. (you should have this printed out in large font so people can read it). If your food or activity has a cultural connection, pls be sure to make this part of your presentation.  If you can translate this info into other languages, that would be awesome! 
3. Any other art or design elements that you want to put on the poster. (We will supply some of these, but you may want to bring some that you personally like.)

The Knowledge Garden Recipe Cook Book

Hey! ... So, each of you is going to be writing about a recipe that is important to you/your family/your culture. The key here is that you should pick a recipe that uses at least one ingredient from our Knowledge Garden. (Of course if you can use more than one, that is great!)

For this assignment you will of course include the recipe--in other words, what are the ingredients and how is it prepared, etc. Look on line for how recipes should look.
IN ADDITION, you have some questions to answer that will make this more than just a recipe. Try to write 2 paras for each question.

1. Why is this recipe important to you/your family/your culture?
2. What memories does this food bring back to you? 
3. Why did you pick THIS recipe?
4. What advice would you give to anyone who tries out your recipe? 

For sure you will want to include pics of the food, ingredients, people in your family who cook the dish, etc. ---make your post look like a cool cultural cookbook.

This assignment is due on July 30... however, you should start on this very  very soon, because it will take a while to find time to cook the food (so you can take pics)--and it may take time to interview people in your family who can tell you more about the recipe.

writing about your neighbor's plot... part 2--this is due on Thurs 7/18

hey all,

we talked in class about some techniques for coming up with good open-ended questions. (We are trying to avoid Yes/No style questions.)

After we did that, you interviewed your neighbors about their plot....

now, pls write 3-4 paras that incorporates what they told you.

This should NOT look like a Q &A type interview. Instead, you should take what you heard, and integrate it into the paragraphs.

One trick is to organize the paras by topic...

there is lots of possible topics: Soil, Weeds, Changes, Team, Attitude about Garden, Advice, What they learned.... etc.

HW due on July 17th, Wed...

hey all, today you went out to the garden and you got introduced to another team's garden plot. I hope that was fun for you. 

For the HW you are each individually  being asked to write about experience. 

You should do 4-5 paras. You can talk about what they have in their garden, what you learned , how your garden is different from yours, what concerns or questions they have about their garden, what you like about their garden, etc. 

If you asked them questions, which i hope you did, you can bring in quotes from them. 

Also, I hope you took pics of their plot. You can include those in your blog post.
