#3 paper: Designing the SIC....the Student Initiative Center. HW for tomorrow.

Hey there, thx for walking around today and looking at the different rooms. As you know, the assignment for paper 3 has to do with the SIC, the Student Initiative Center. We looked at 3 other spaces today to see if we could get inspiration for SIC.

We looked at the old Passion Room, the new Collaborative Projects Center, and the Knowledge Garden. 2 of the classes didn't get into the Collaborative Projects Center, so I posted some pics of it in the post below this one. The pics should give you a pretty good sense of the feel and look they were going for. You can see it doesn't look much like the Passion room, lol.

Tomorrow I will give you the actual #3 paper assignment. For tonight here are the 3 questions to consider about the SIC:

How do you imagine the room being used?
How would you design it?
How would you imagine SIC interacting with the Collaborative Projects Center and the Knowledge Garden?


For Wed, you should type up your first brainstorm (prototype) of what ideas  you have about the 3 questions. Pls bring it to class and be ready to share with the class.

advice for doing Proposal paper

hey there, so the paper is due next Tuesday, July 21st. Pls bring a hard copy. We will also be asking you to supply a digital version later.

Meanwhile, here is some of the advice and guidelines for doing this assignment that we came up with in class:

Use the Design book and pull concepts and quotes from it.
Use Rule of 3--even though it is more of an academic tool, it will work for this.
Use Quotes--they will work, even though is more of a business type paper.

Make the look of the proposal visually interesting. (There are proposal templates you can use.)
Offer details and specific steps in the proposal.

Do a budget.
Do a project timeline.

Include a bio of yourself if you like, that pertains to the project.
