1. What has it been like to transition to remote learning? (2-3 paras) You can talk about how it has been in each class you are taking...you can talk about how it has been for you mentally or emotionally... 
2. What advice would you give someone who is going to do this kind of remote learning? (2-3 paras) try to be as practical and specific as possible --what advice would you give to CHABOT teachers and administrators...

FINAL ASSIGNNMENT for ALL English classes

For your last assignment, we will be investigating the “Staying IN: Hayward” website. You have 6 questions to answer. As we have been doing all semester, we want to write long paragraphs in response to the questions. I think you will be very impressed with the quality of work of you and your student colleagues. Here are the questions you will be answering:

1. What are your impressions of the website? The look, the overall feel, how you navigate it, the layout, etc? (1-2 paras total)
2. What are three things you learned about your fellow students? (3 paras total. You must  pull quotes from different presentations to support your points. We are interested in TRENDS here., Dont just look at 3 random presentations and talk about 3 individuals.)
3. What is your favorite presentation (aside from your own, lol). (1-2 paras total. You should talk about WHY you like it. Pull quotes to support your points.)
4. Based on, and inspired by, all the great presentations you see, what changes might you make to your own presentation? (1-2 paras total.)
5. Please link the website to your social media platforms, and tell us which ones you linked the website to. ‘
6. How successful do you think the website is in achieving the goals of “providing positivity, building community, and finding ways to support one another”?   (1-2 paras total.)

This assignment will be due via email to me on  Friday, May 22nd. Of course we will be assigning draft days  before that.

Passion Class google slides assignment

For this assignment, we are working with the City of Hayward to create positive responses and solutions to the COVID-19 crisis.  

As many of you have experienced and stated, we are all being inundated by reports, updates, automatic messages, and negative headlines.  This kind of messaging is fair and appropriate given the circumstances we are experiencing. However, we want to provide positivity, build community, and find ways to support one another. The SIC team is working with the City of Hayward to create a website that will be promoted to community members.  

The website is called “Staying IN: Hayward.”

This website will include YOUR ideas for responding to this crisis, and will provide “Hayward-esque” activities people can do from their homes.  

Your assignment: 

 Using Google Slides, you will create an activity/lesson/guideline that we can share with the community.  Your goal is to show the community or teach them how to do this activity. There are a lot of lists circulating online, on social media, etc. on tips for staying healthy, keeping occupied, and entertaining yourself.  We want our activities to be unique from the generic ones that are being circulated. We also want them to be much more DETAILED. Your activity can be in any of the following categories or an entirely new category:

• Food: recipes/ cooking techniques/etc
• Gardens / outdoor nature
• Kids’ activities
• Health and wellness
• Activism
• How to … (here are some examples) 
--home improvement
--Make a movie and embed it in WIX
--Professional looking Instagram post
--Operate google slides and/or Canva
--Do magic
• Pets
• Arts and crafts 
• Organizational tips
• Deep cleaning homes
• Creating a schedule/routine
• How to be a successful student during this crisis

You will create your document in Google Slides.  You should embed video, pictures, graphs, etc. The goal is to make your document fun, colorful, positive! You should take your own vids and pics....do NOT simply be grabbing a bunch of images from the internet or vids from YouTube

Of course you will need to do WRITING for this assignment. Here are the questions for you to answer (FULL big paragraphs...not just one sentence answers)

1. Introduction (tell us who you are, how you are doing, etc)
2. Why did you pick this activity?
3. What are the specific steps involved? (Don’t be vague--we need details about how to do it)
4. What materials are needed? 
5. How does your activity relate to Hayward / Bay Area culture or community?
