Home work for English 102 (M/W) and English 1 (The 3pm class M/W)

Home work for English 102 (M/W) and English 1 (The 3pm class M/W)
This is due on Monday, Feb 3.

1. You need to get the book "The End of Ice."
 Please read the Introduction, and Chapter 1 and 2. (pages 1 to 51.)
For the Introduction,  and Chapter 1 please answer this question: Why does the author start with the story of almost dying in the glacier?
For Chapter 2  please answer these 2 questions: What does the title of the chapter mean? What is the problem with "Time becoming unfrozen."
For each question you should do a paragraph of writing.

Some of the materials are books, some of the materials have been created by students. 
Now that you have had a chance to look through the materials in the SIC, we would like you to do the following:

What idea or book or student materials did you find that might be integrated into a specific discipline at Chabot?
Try to be specific (the name of the book or the student materials)
WHY and HOW do you think the idea or book or student materials is a good fit.....? Imagine that you are TELLING the teacher how the idea or book or student materials can fit into her class.

HW for M/W English classes .... this is due on Wed the 29th....

 Watch Story of Stuff by Annie Leonard . Here are a couple of question for you to write a 2-3 paras about:
What are 2 things in the video that you did not know? (Write a paragraph for each thing.)
What do you think of her strategy of explaining things by analyzing "systems"?
She is talking about really complex ideas, why does she use such a simple approach (basically making a cartoon) to talk about these ideas?

HOME WORK for the English 4 class.. this is due next thurs.... the 30th

Below is your Home work for English. This Home work needs to be typed up and brought to class on Thursday. There are 4 assignments here. You need to do them ALL.... 

1. Pls read this article and type up your answers these questions

A. What is "climate silence"?
B. What is your own attitude about talking about climate issues? How often do you do it? Who do you talk to? IF you do NOT talk to people about climate issues, why dont you? 

2. Pls watch this excellent documentary about oil, and do these assignments:

A. Pls make a list of 7 to 10 quotes from the movie that you especially like. (You should pick quotes from all parts of the film--dont just pick from the first 10  minutes of the movie, lol
B. What is one idea found in the movie that you did NOT know about? Talk about this for one Paragraph ...
