Paper #4 for English 4---
For this last paper, you are going to be going to 3 different cultural / performance type events and writing about them.
There are all kinds of events you can go to, including:
Poetry / Dance / Play / Live Music / Museum / Comedy-Improv , etc.,
The event should be LIVE, that is, some one is doing something in front of you.
You can get lists of possible events from many different internet sites including Eastbay Express, Inside Bay Area SFGate and you can also simply google the venue itself, such as the name of a museum or venue, like The Starry Plough.
This is one essay, that will have 3 parts.
WHAT YOU CAN WRITE ABOUT:
What happened at the event?
What did you think of it?
Where was the event--how did you get there?
What did you do before and after?
Who did you go with, what did they think of it?
You can also compare and contrast the 3 events......
The page minimum is 6. We will do a draft day on May 25 ---this is finals week, and we meet from 2-4 on that day...

Paper #4 --into the wild and into your future
hey there...for this last paper you are being invited to spend some quality time with the cooolest person you know---YOU. You are going to be exploring some questions that echo some of the issues and themes in our book, Into the Wild.
This paper in a way is a time capsule. What I mean by that is that it is hoped that you read this paper in 10 years and go YES, I DID have my shit together.
The paper is asking you to think about what really matters to you, and to explore a set of questions that stem from that...
You will be bringing in quotes from our book to support your points. You can also bring in our other books if they can relate. Remember in this paper to continue to build the kind of paragraphs that we have been doing all semester: good 3-4-5 Topic Sentences, Support, Commentary.
Here are the questions, dont forget to Rule of 3 the questions.
What really matters to you? And WHY does it matter?
What is your family's relationship to what really matters to you?
What processes or "techniques" do you use to find out "who you are" and/or what matters to you?
What are you doing in your life to make what really matters to you a reality?
In what ways are you and Chris similar? Different?
The Page minimum is 6. The paper is due May 30th via email.....the big draft day is on May 25th.

HW for 1A and 102 --due this Wed, the 11th
hey there, so I hope you enjoyed your quick VisionQuest walk yesterday, lol.
In keeping with that spirit, you have some writing to do to answer a couple of questions. Pls type this and bring it to class on Wed. Pls write 2-3 paragraphs for each question. Try to go deep, bc this will very likely end up being included in your paper #4 ....
Here are the questions:
1. What is the longest time you have ever been completely alone? What were the circumstances? How did it feel to be in this situation?
2. What is the longest time you have ever been in a situation where you may not have been completely alone, BUT you didn't know the people who were around you? What were the circumstances? How did it feel to be in this situation?
